Put the bowl of sweet potato in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes. Let the sweet potato cool for a few minutes, then turn it over. Continue cooking the sweet potato for 3 more minutes or until the sweet potato is cooked through. If you have a stovetop, you can boil the sweet potato. Next, cut the sweet potato in half and put them in a saucepan with some salt and pepper. Add about 3 inches of water. Cover the pan and bring the sweet potato to a boil over medium-high heat. Let the sweet potato boil for 10 minutes. Then drain the water and discard the water. Repeat this process until the sweet potato is soft enough for you to mash. These sweet potatoes can be served warm or cold.
