Feeling out of shape? Even if you’re currently in good physical condition, over time you’ll start to accumulate small health problems that you don’t even realize you have. When you visit the doctor, it’s important to let him or her know about your weight so that you can get on top of any health issues before they become more serious. Having a medical professional evaluate your weight can also help you determine how much weight you need to lose. Weighing yourself often is a great way to measure your progress.
Body Fat
There are several different ways of measuring body fat. The most commonly used method is called a body mass index, or BMI. A BMI is a calculated weight for height ratio. Using a BMI calculator, you can figure out how much fat you have based on your weight and height. The BMI also takes into account your height, which is useful if you are over 6 feet tall. The standard BMI is used to diagnose underweight, normal weight, overweight, and obese individuals. A BMI under 18.5 is considered underweight, 18.5-24.9 is considered normal weight, 25-29.9 is considered overweight, and 30 or above is considered obese. The highest risk of complications with obesity is in the category of 30 or above. If your BMI is between 30 and 39.9, you have a high risk of developing heart disease and diabetes. And if your BMI is over 40, you have a high risk of developing Type II diabetes, hypertension, and some cancers.
Weight Management And Fitness
Health and fitness go hand in hand. Without good health you’ll have a much harder time reaching your fitness goals. However, health is more than just physical fitness. It also includes your mental and emotional health. Unfortunately, many people are not aware that not taking care of their mental and emotional health can actually be harmful to their physical health. Experts have found that stress can actually damage your heart, and may increase your risk of heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases. Other problems can include anxiety, depression and sleep problems. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the things you can do to take care of your health and fitness.
Be A Healthy Weight!
I know how it feels when you try to lose weight, but you just can’t seem to get the motivation and the time to exercise.
Weight Is Relative To Your Height!
The numbers that a scale measures are not always accurate. This is because the scale will often be affected by the weight of the person standing on it. If you weigh yourself on a scale with someone else on it, then the person on the scale will likely affect the numbers that you see. This is especially true for scales with counter weights. To accurately measure your weight, you need to weigh yourself on a digital scale that is also connected to a weight monitor. This is because the weight of the person on the scale does not affect the weight on the scale.
How To Check Your Weight?
The best way to measure your weight is to have your doctor check your weight at your yearly physical. Or, if you’d like to use a method that you can do on your own, try checking your weight with a digital scale. To check your weight, get your feet firmly on the scale and hold your arms close to your body. Make sure to lift your feet off the scale first, or you may get an inaccurate reading. If you have shoes on, take them off and make sure they’re empty. For extra accuracy, remove your watch. Put the scale down and take a deep breath. Then, slowly exhale. Your weight should register after the final exhale. If your weight is high or low, you may have to weigh yourself more than once to get an accurate reading. If you feel self-conscious about having a doctor weigh you, you can also buy a home scale to check your weight.
