Fats are one of the main food groups in your diet, and they make up the main portion of your caloric intake. The types of fat that you consume directly affects your health, and the ratio of saturated to unsaturated fat will affect your overall health.
Can Omega 3 Increase the Life of a Pet?
As it turns out, fish and seafood are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. These fats are also naturally good for your heart, and they are often needed for proper brain function. In the case of pets, Omega-3 fats are especially important for proper brain function. When we talk about fatty acids, we are referring to long, chain fatty acids that can be found in fish, seafood, and fatty tissues of animal. The main two types are Omega-3 and Omega-6. These two types are essential fatty acids because the body cannot make them on its own. Omega-3s are necessary for proper brain function and healthy heart functioning. They are also necessary for good vision, vision is critical for seeing and working with animals. Omega-6s are used in the production of hormones, though they can also help the body absorb the Omega-3s. A diet high in omega-3s helps reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer and coronary heart disease.
Is Omega 3 Healthy?
Omega-3 fatty acids, also known as EFA’s or essential fatty acids are essential to health. They are found in the cell walls of seeds, nuts and fish. The human body is unable to produce them on its own so they must be obtained from food sources. They are needed to maintain good health in the body and are used by the brain to communicate with the nervous system.
Saturated fats?
Saturated fats, such as those found in meat and dairy products, are generally regarded as unhealthy fats. However, recent research suggests that there’s a need to revise this view. Studies have shown that saturated fats can be converted into beneficial cholesterol. This includes:
1. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) found in fish
2. Lecithin, which is present in egg yolks
3. Erythrocyte membranes
The Healthy Benefits of Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Fatty acids are compounds in our food that help to provide energy and structural integrity to cells. The two main types of fatty acids are omega-3 and omega-6. These two types are found in different foods and can be combined in different ratios to create diets that are low in omega-6 and high in omega-3.
What is a Healthy Fat?
There are two types of fats: saturated and unsaturated. They both have very different effects on the body. Saturated fats, or “bad” fats, are found mainly in red meat and dairy products, such as butter, cream, and cheese. Unsaturated fats, or “good” fats, are found in meat, milk, and fish. They can lower the risk of heart disease and stroke by lowering the amount of cholesterol in the body. A study of nearly 50,000 women in the U.S. found that women who consumed at least two servings of fatty fish per week had a lower risk of stroke.
