Can you roast whole walnuts?
Walnuts are best when cut in half and roasted until lightly brown before being cut into quarters. Walnut halves should always be cut lengthwise, not crosswise. This ensures even browning and prevents the nuts from burning. Once the nut halves are cut, place them in an ovenproof dish and roast until light brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before storing. If you do not want to roast the whole nuts, you may need to cut them into smaller pieces. You can also roast them directly in their shells.
Why do you roast walnuts?

They will keep for months without spoiling. If you want to toast your own nuts, you need to do it properly. To toast almonds, place them on a baking sheet and toast them for about 10 minutes. Place them back on pan and repeat until they are golden. For walnuts, bake them at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes; then cool them down and enjoy them.

Should raw walnuts be roasted?

You can roast walnuts in any oven, including the microwave. Just make sure to keep the nuts cool before you start cooking them. If you want to roast them inside a pan, you will need to add a little bit of oil to prevent the browning of your walmots. Once they are ready, put them into a bowl and mix them with olive oil and salt.
Can you use walnuts in baking straight from the shell?

In microwavable dish/pie plate place walnut in single layers. microwave on High heat 2 min, Stir and Continue Nukinng and Stirring at 1 min intervals till nut is fragant and golden color. Note: This recipe is for use in an oven. If you are using a Pyrerex dish, you will need to bake the bread in advance. Place the sliced bread slices in preheated oven for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Cut into wedges and enjoy. Also, if using Pyrenees, cut into slices and place in oven after cooling. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Bake slices for 10 minutes, until golden.
