If you want to make a stock out of your roasted turkey, simply simmer it in water until it reduces to half its original volume. You can then strain the liquid through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. This will give you a clear broth that tastes delicious. If using canned stock, you should drain the canned whole turkeys before cooking. Then you need to cook the turkey bones separately, so they don’t turn brown. When you’re ready to serve the meat, pour the fat back into the pot and add the bones.

Do you use broth or stock for turkey?

Ingredients: Stock is mainly made of meats scraps/bones and water. So if I boil my carcasls down, I get stock! And since I’m using the bones and scraps to boil the broth instead of using them to create the soup, that means I’ve got stock in my broth. I don’T want anything else in there, either. To make it taste better, however, let’s add some vegetables. For example, if someone wants to use their stock as the base for their soup without adding any vegetables, he or she can add carrots, celery, parsnips, etc. to their broth before boiling it. Then, when you’re ready to serve the dish, you’ll know that the vegetable portion of your soup is actually the main component of it! The stock is usually boiled down to about 1/4 cup, though you may need less or more depending on how much you want it cooked. When you boil it down enough to get to 1 cup of liquid, remove the lid and let the liquid come to room temperature. Add the vegetables back in and boil until the veggies are tender. Once the veggie portion is tender, add the meat back into the pot and continue to simmer until all of those ingredients are cooked together. At this point, strain the mixture and discard the solids. Now you have a tasty broth that will keep for weeks in storage. Or you could use this broth to mix with your other recipes.
