I wanted to do hot cross buns for a long time but never got round to doing them. I had to give up the idea when I realised I didn’t have the right flour. So I went to the nearest supermarket and bought the pre-packaged mix that I could see on the shelf.

Shape the dough into a ball, and place it into the greased pan. You can use a similar method to put the buns in the oven, but you’ll also need some oil in the pan to help them cook. Cook them at 375°F for 20 minutes. Then, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool for 20 minutes. If you want to make this really fancy, you can cover the buns with a glaze when they’re still warm. This glaze is made from melted chocolate and milk. After you’ve cooled them, you can either eat them straight away, or wrap them up in a paper bag and store them in the fridge for a few days.
