As of 2018, the national average wage for a cashier is $11.52 per hour. That’s $24,790 per year. This job may not be for everyone, but if you love being outdoors, and are willing to work hard, it can be a great way to make money and start your own business.

It is often a myth that cashiers make more than $7.25 per hour at supermarkets. A recent study by PayScale.com found that at Walmart, the average amount a cashier makes per hour is $7.19. And at Costco, the average is $6.83.

The average annual salary of a Walmart associate is $15,296. The average annual salary of a Costco associate is $15,431. That makes Costco associates, on average, slightly more than Walmart associates. The average annual salary of a Kroger associate is $15,216, and the average annual salary of a Publix associate is $15,019.

If you’re wondering how much to tip, there’s no single right answer. Here are some things to consider when deciding how much to tip: 1. What is the service worth? A 20-minute drive is $10. A cup of coffee that you order yourself is $3. Should you tip more or less than that? Remember that if you’re buying a gift for a friend or family member, you’re also expected to pay for the time that they spent making the gift. 2. What kind of establishment is it? Some restaurants include a gratuity in their price.
