We all have a funny story about how we ended up with a dirty or stinky cup, plate, or spoon. We may think nothing of it when we leave the kitchen, but many of us later find out that there’s a cause for our poor hygiene. Sometimes, it’s a simple thing, but there are some more serious reasons why you might have bad smelling cutlery. Below is a list of some of the most common reasons.
Shredded Cutlery Smell
This is a problem that happens to many of us. The secret is to clean it with the right products.
Why do utensils smell?
Although people do their best to keep their cutlery clean, in the process they sometimes forget about their utensils and leave them in the kitchen sink. As a result, they may find their utensils have an unpleasant smell. This is especially true if they have stored them for a long time in the sink. This problem can be difficult to remove. However, there are some items that may help to eliminate this problem. Deodorizers are a great way to keep the smell from spreading, but you may need to get one that is specifically designed to do this. Natural cleaners such as vinegar can also help eliminate the smell, but they may not do the best job. Instead, try using baking soda, baking powder or borax. This can help eliminate odors in the sink. Of course, if you prefer, you can also try giving your cutlery a good clean.
Recipes for Common Cutlery Smells
There are a lot of possible causes for your cutlery smelling, but you can fix it if you’re willing to put in the work. The first step is to wash it. Wash your knives and forks with a clean, warm, soapy water. Be careful not to scrub your kitchen with soap, as this will dry out your cutlery. Once they’re cleaned, leave them to dry in the sink overnight. If you’re having problems, don’t worry! Simply put them in the oven at 200-220 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or put them in a steamer and cook them for 5-10 minutes. You’ll be able to dry your cutlery, and get rid of any lingering odors.
How to make your cutlery smell like a new one?
In the microwave, metal objects lose oxygen as the food is heated. This oxygen reacts with the metal to form oxides. Over time, these oxides bond with the iron and aluminum present in the cutlery and give it a metallic odor. Iron and aluminum also react with water to form metallic salts. These salts could give the cutlery a salty or fishy smell.
How to get rid of it?
The reason your cutlery smells is that they’re covered in bacteria. This bacteria is in the air, and will also be on your cutlery. To get rid of this bacteria, you’ll need to clean your cutlery with an anti-bacterial soap. This will remove the bacteria from the cutlery and stop it from growing. Simply store your cutlery in a cupboard where it can dry out. This will stop your cutlery from smelling.
