Looking to get a set of wooden pans for the kitchen? You’re not the only one. More and more consumers are replacing their standard non-stick steel pans with wooden ones. There are several reasons for this, including durability and aesthetics. Here’s why.
Options when buying a cooking pan
Typically, pans come in either aluminum, stainless steel or cast iron. Each material has its pros and cons, but for a beginner, cast iron will usually be the best option. Cast iron pans can be used at a very high temperature, but are durable and have a long lifespan. For example, cast iron can be used to make pots and pans. However, you can only use cast iron pans for things that don’t require a higher temperature, such as cooking pasta. So, you have to buy the cast iron pan, and then buy a non-stick surface to go on top of it. You can either buy a non-stick surface from a cookware store, or make your own with a little bit of care. You will typically need to use a wooden spoon when cooking with a non-stick surface. The wooden spoon is used to scrape off the non-stick surface and then to prevent it from sticking.
The Benefits of wooden handles
As you might have guessed, the handles of pans and other kitchen tools are made from wood because of the benefits that this provides. You can use them to help heat and cool your kitchen better. Also, wooden handles won’t scratch the surface of your pans. They’re also safe for the knives and other tools you use when cooking, especially knives. Wooden handles won’t burn or stain the surface of your pans or utensils, and are easy to clean. Even though wood is more expensive than other materials, it lasts for a very long time and doesn’t require much maintenance. This can make wooden handles a good investment for your kitchen.
How to clean a wooden cookware
Wooden cookware such as a skillet or wok can be a popular choice for anyone who wants to get a good deal of cooking done. Wood cookware can be a good investment, and you can probably get one for as little as $10. But it’s important to take care of your wood cookware, to prevent it from warping and developing cracks.
Why do pans have wooden handles?
When you look around, you’ll find that most pans or other cooking utensils have handles made from wood. But why is this the case? You may be surprised to learn that it’s not only for aesthetic reasons. It’s actually because wooden handles provide a better grip. In fact, there are various tests that have been done to test the durability and strength of wooden handles versus metal handles. Here’s what one of them found: … Pans with wooden handles could hold up to 300 pounds. Pans with metal handles could hold up to 200 pounds. Even more importantly, while wooden handles did break, they could be easily replaced with wooden replacements. However, with metal handles, it would be much more difficult and expensive to replace.
Which wood should you choose?
Since you’re most likely using your pan in the kitchen, it’s best to look for a wooden pan that’s been made in the U.S. For starters, you’ll get a higher quality pan that’s been properly cared for. Plus, you’ll find American wood. This is because American wood is a select group of hardwoods that are grown in the U.S. Since these trees are native to the U.S., they’re often more durable and environmentally friendly. American woodwood is also resistant to mold and rot, meaning you’ll be able to use your pan for a long time.
