Why do you wake up at 3am for no reason? Many people do. You are one of the many millions of people who wake up to see what the day has to offer. If you cannot sleep and you wake up at the usual time, you are a morning person. Some people call morning people unlucky, and they are correct, they tend to have more bad days than good days. However, there are ways to make your days go smoother.
Why Do You Wake Up At Night?
Some people wake up in the middle of the night, or even during the day. This is known as parasomnia. While it’s not always a reason for concern, it’s important to get treatment from a doctor if it happens repeatedly. The problem with parasomnia is that it typically can’t be cured, so it’s important to figure out what’s causing it and deal with it. Other reasons for waking up in the middle of the night or during the day include fever, substance abuse, alcohol, and depression. We’ll talk more about these causes in a future video.
When Are You Most Alert?
Before you get to bed, try to assess your body’s current state. Can you feel that you’re still awake, even though your eyes are closed? Does your brain feel like it’s working even though it’s not? If the answer is yes, then you are most likely awake and alert. Typically, we are most aware and in a better mental state after 8 PM. Our brains and bodies are both most alert and in good condition during the sleep cycle. We enter our deepest sleep phase at around 4 AM, and wake up around 8 AM. After that, we generally aren’t as alert.
Problems with Insomnia
You are probably experiencing Insomnia if you wake up before you should. Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which people have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
Things You Can Do To Help
Waking up early can be beneficial to your health and well-being. However, you don’t have to do it for no reason. There are some things you can do to make it easier to wake up early. As mentioned above, coffee has some benefits. So, don’t forget to have a cup before bed. Also, wake up when your body is telling you it’s time to wake up. Your body will be more likely to wake you up if you’re in a dark and quiet room than if it’s light and noisy.
How Do You Get By?
Don’t worry. With a little bit of preparation, you can get by even when you’re woken up at an unusual hour. For one, it can be easier to wake up in the middle of the night, since you’re usually tired and your body wants to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, your body doesn’t need to be fully alert, and you can still be productive. Plus, when you wake up at an unusual hour, you don’t have to get up as early. Rather, you can stay up late. This is good if you need to study or work at night, or if you’re an early riser who doesn’t want to wake up at an ungodly hour. It can be easier to go to sleep at night if you wake up at an unusual hour, but you’ll be tired during the day.
