What’s Happening in the Uterus During Pregnancy?
While it’s very common to feel moody and emotional during pregnancy, a recent study showed that many women aren’t able to articulate the root cause. While women who can’t name the cause are more likely to develop mood swings, the number is still pretty high. The study found that between 7.7 percent to 9.2 percent of pregnant women suffer from some form of mental illness, with depression being the most common. And while this study is still pretty new, it’s been shown to have a link between mental illness and mood changes. Scientists have found that stress and anxiety can play a role in changing hormone levels, which can lead to mood changes in pregnancy. While anxiety and depression can be treated through medication, experts have found that these treatments can cause other problems for pregnant women, so they prefer to treat these mental health issues through talk therapy and medication.
What is the Female Reproductive Cycle?
The female reproductive cycle occurs every month and takes approximately one month to complete. While the exact time of ovulation varies by individual, the female’s body produces the most eggs in the final three to five days before ovulation, during which fertile days can last from one to six hours. During this time, a woman’s body releases female sex hormones to prepare her for pregnancy. The fertile period continues as her body prepares for pregnancy, and finally, a woman’s body begins to shut off those hormones and the period stops. Each cycle lasts about a month.
How To Know When to Get Pregnant
Your period is probably one of the most important health signs you can get from your menstrual cycle. It’s a great indicator that you are pregnant or not pregnant. This is because if you are pregnant your period is typically lighter than usual. Additionally, you’re ovulating at a regular rate, which is the moment when the egg releases from your ovary to fertilize the egg. If you do not ovulate, your period is usually heavier than usual. During ovulation, you can often notice changes in your cycle as well, such as vaginal discharge. Your discharge can get thicker and change color from white to clear to bloody.

The uterus is the muscle which helps give your baby, and its position can affect your moods. During the luteal phase of your menstrual cycle, hormones are higher and you’ll be more likely to experience mental fatigue. During this time, you may also be more prone to mood swings, anxiety and mood changes. You’ll experience these symptoms for the next three to five days until your body starts to produce high levels of progesterone again.
Common First Trimester Symptoms
The first trimester of pregnancy is often referred to as the “lonely” trimester because of the huge physical changes that are happening. These changes can cause some common symptoms such as fatigue and mood swings. Other symptoms include back pain, heartburn and morning sickness. While these symptoms can be mild, they can also be extremely frustrating for both you and your partner.
