The Pizza Hut logo was designed by company co-founder Dave Thomas. The logo was created as a way to promote the company. Thomas had been looking for a way to promote his business and came across the design that would later become the Pizza Hut logo. The company’s name was chosen due to Thomas’ belief that people enjoy pizzas. He believed that the store would be a fun place to go to and the name was chosen in a characteristically straightforward manner. The company’s first store opened in Wichita, Kansas in 1965. Today, the company operates restaurants across the globe.

In 1954, two young men named Tom and Robert Corey opened a pizza hut in Wichita, Kansas. At first, they served pizza for $.60 for a slice and $.95 for a two-piece. Soon after they started, they expanded their business into a franchise, opening their first franchise in Wichita. In 1966, they bought a franchise in Austin, Texas. The next year they bought their first drive-through store. In 1969, they opened a second franchise in Oklahoma City. As the business grew, they bought a second franchise in Dallas and expanded to Columbus, Ohio. In 1972, they expanded further, purchasing 20 franchises in Southern California. In 1973, they purchased seven more franchises in Austin and expanded into New York. By this time, they were offering pay-per-view channels in their restaurants. In 1980, they bought the Midas restaurant chain, which made them a leader in the food industry. In 1982, they purchased franchising rights to the Gold Mine chain and expanded into Las Vegas. In 1983, they bought the Rainbo hard candy company. By this time, their brand was known as Pizza Hut. In 1985, they began selling Pizza Hut products at grocery stores. Jim McLamore, Founder of Pizza Hut, developed the idea for Pizza Hut while working as an engineer at the Austracia Aircraft Corporation in Chicago, in the 1920s. In 1925, he left Austracia to work at a different company and returned to run Pizza Hut.
