Today, we are going to tell you where pizza was invented. Pizzas originated in the middle ages, and it was at this time that the word pizza was derived from. People started to cook pizza from dough, and this type of food is one that has become very popular to this day.
Where Was Pizza Invented?
There is some debate over where pizza originated, but the most popular theories point to a guy named Marcello Dal Ben in Naples, Italy, around the year 1000. However, there is some evidence that this recipe may have been around much earlier. A baker by the name of Guiseppe Bechamel recorded that pizza had been around for around 200 years in his 1836 work “The Life of Antonio Bechamel”. He was one of the first to include tomatoes, as the earliest recipes from the 1800’s include tomatoes. The most famous version of the recipe was invented in 1889 in Rome, Italy, by a man named Oreste Pinto. So, as you can see, pizza was likely invented a lot earlier than most people think.
Pizza With Different Ingredients
When we think about pizza, most people think about a pizza with meat, cheese, and sauce. This is the most common type of pizza, but there are many different kinds of pizza, so let’s take a closer look at a few of the more unusual kinds.
The Birth Of Pizza
First found in Rome in a bakery owned by De Laurentis, it was named after the Roman god of health and public well being, called O.P.E.L. and later PEPE.
Where Does Pizza Get Its Name?
The first written record of pizza dates back to 1391, when a cook in Naples used leftover bread dough to make a quick snack. The dish was later made with leftover bread in France in 1483. It didn’t become associated with pizza until the mid-16th century when it became more widely popular. The exact origin of the name pizza is unknown, but it’s believed that it could have originated from the Italian word pizze, which means “pies”. The dish can be made of a variety of different ingredients, depending on the region where it was invented. In the United States, it’s typically made with thin crust, which is baked in a stone oven. The typical toppings include cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, and peppers. In Naples, pizza is more likely to have fresh tomato sauce and garlic.
