Indian Food is an ancient cuisine that dates back more than 2000 years. It is native to the Asian continent, specifically India. Indian cuisine tends to have very little in common with Western food. It does, however, have several common ingredients including spices, lentils and rice. The origin of Indian cuisine is thought to be linked to the curries found in Egypt. Indian cuisine also has a lot in common with Chinese cuisine, especially as it pertains to rice. As one might expect, Indian cuisine is largely vegetarian, which was historically necessary for people living in the region. To a large extent, this is true today. Traditional Indians are also not big on sugar and it is rarely added to food, which helps to keep the calorie count low.
