It is believed to be the first pizza chain to operate in the US, and has been voted the “Best Pizza Chain” by Foursquare since 2013. In the early days of Cici’s Pizza, the founder, Salvatore Cici, came up with the concept of “cheap eats that taste good”. Cici also developed the concept of “value pricing”, which meant that customers could order pizza and soup for $1. This was much cheaper than restaurants of the time. A number of Cici’s Pizza locations also started off as pharmacies. Cici’s Pizza remained a chain of its 50th anniversary, and today they are a national brand. Today, the restaurants have a dedicated artisan pizzeria in the middle of the restaurant. This is a large oven that cooks each pizza for six to eight minutes. These pizzas are then divided up into portions, labeled, and given to each customer in a pick up window.

Is Cici’s pizza a clone of pizza hut?
Cici’s pizza is closing down on April 30. I don’t know the exact date, but it appears that they have been losing money, or not making enough money to stay open. When it shuts down, it will be the third restaurant in the Midwest to shut down in the last three months. Pizza hut has lost over $1 billion in the last three years, while both Subway and Dominos have seen profits jump by $2.1 billion and $813 million respectively.
