For this recipe, you’ll need a 9×13 casserole dish, an 8oz can of mushrooms, some green onions, a pound of sausage, some sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and some flour. First, you’ll need to brown the sausage. Put the sausage in the casserole dish, and put it in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. The process involves mixing sausage ingredients, including the old ground beef, with additional beef fat to create a batter. The batter is then forced through holes until a solid bar is formed. This process is easier to use than dry-mixing, which would be used for whole-muscle meat. Dry-grinding also has an advantage in that it creates an extremely dense sausage that is very flavorful.
