I have 2 extra plums, not much else. I was wondering what to do with them. Plums are an excellent food source but once you open them you lose a lot of their nutrients. So here is what I did to try and make them last longer.

What to do with the plums you have from your plum tree? Many people find themselves with extra plums after having some of them get overripe. But what to do with all those plums that are left over after cooking your favourite preserves or wine? Put the plums on a baking sheet and bake in a very low oven for an hour. Put the plums in a food processor and blitz. Use them to make plum syrup, jam, or to add to puddings. Turn the oven up to 200 degrees and dry the plums in the oven for about an hour. Put them in a food processor and blitz them. They will take on a chunky texture and turn into a marmalade. Put the plums in a saucepan and simmer over a low heat. Stir in 1/4 cup of sugar and cook for about an hour until thickened. You can also use the plums to make jelly and jam. Don’t forget about your plums that you picked off your tree. Put them in a bowl and chill them. They will become jam-like and keep well in the fridge.

Once you have the plums, the first thing you need to do is to cut them in half. Then take a knife and slice them in half again, making each slice about 1/4 inch thick. Now, take the knife and cut each half in half again, about 1/4 inch in from the first cut. Now you should have a piece of fruit that is about 1/4 inch thick. This is the best way to get the maximum amount of juice. Now, if you have several plums, just repeat the process with each plum.
