When it comes to chicken, a lot of people are intimidated to make it themselves. It’s hard to get it right, especially when you’re cooking for a crowd. All you need is a few basic recipes to get you started. You can learn how to make delicious chicken thighs from scratch.
Mediterranean chicken
Start with bones, skin and breast meat. Remove the fat and any visible skin. Rinse well, then pat dry with paper towels. Sprinkle both sides of the thighs with salt and pepper. Place in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Cook uncovered until golden brown on both sides, about 10 minutes each side. About 5 minutes before the thighs are ready, add the garlic and rosemary to the pan. Cook, turning the thighs once, until cooked through, about 5 minutes longer.
Chicken masala
In India, chicken masala is a very common dish. It’s a mixture of Indian spices that includes cumin, coriander, ginger, garlic, and other spices. It’s served over rice, in dumplings, or in curry. You can easily make chicken masala at home. All you need is a food processor, a blender, and a set of spices. When you buy chicken thighs, make sure that you rinse them with water before you start. Next, place the chicken in the food processor. Add the salt, black pepper, and coriander powder. Then add the chili powder, ground cumin, red chili, and the remaining three spices. Blend the chicken mixture until you get a homogeneous mix. Then add the yogurt and the tomato purée. Pulse the food processor for a few seconds, and then blend for 1-2 minutes. Remove the food processor, and transfer the chicken masala to a bowl. Cover the chicken masala with a lid. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Serve the chicken masala with steamed rice or naan bread.
Stir fry chicken
Chicken is a great source of protein and is inexpensive. It’s also relatively easy to prepare. Chicken thighs are the meat from the bottom of the chicken leg. They are typically leaner than other parts of the chicken, but still provide a good amount of protein. Stir frying chicken thighs is a popular method of preparing them. This means you’ll need to cut the meat into strips. You can do this either by cutting the meat in half lengthwise, or using a sharp knife to cut it into strips. You can then toss the pieces of meat into a pan with some water or chicken broth, and salt. Depending on your tastes, you can add more oil to the pan. You can also add some garlic, onion, and ginger. Once the meat is cooked, you can add your favorite vegetables. Veggies that are typically used are broccoli, bell pepper, carrots, and cabbage. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes before adding your veggies. Another option is to make your own marinade. To do this, you can add some fresh or dried herbs. You can also add some soy sauce, sesame oil, and red or white wine. Lastly, you can add some garlic. You can do this in the microwave by soaking the meat in a marinade for at least 10 minutes.
Marinate chicken in garlic
Marinate your chicken thighs with some garlic. Chicken thighs are typically cheaper than a whole chicken, but they have just as much flavor and can be a great addition to a meatball. Mix 1/4 cup of a mashed garlic bulb with 1/2 tablespoon of chopped fresh thyme leaves and rub it all over the chicken thighs. Place the chicken thighs in a ziploc bag and let them marinate for 1-2 hours.
Bake chicken with rosemary
The best chicken thighs you can buy are from a whole bird. These are called New Zealand chicken thighs. The reason is because of the country of New Zealand’s climate. This results in long shelf life for the chicken. Chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to three days. However, don’t throw away the bones. You can throw them in a blender or stock pot with water and boil for up to eight hours. You can use the bones to make chicken soup. So, next time you get chicken thighs at the store, buy the whole bird.
