Why Is the Temperature Important for Salmon?

The temperature is very important when cooking fish. Most people recommend to cook fish between 165-170 degrees Fahrenheit. However, for fish that is closer to being cooked, the temperature should be closer to 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Cooking the fish at a higher temperature will cause the fish to be hard and dry. This is because when cooked at too high of a temperature, the proteins in the fish will become denatured. This will cause the fish to become dry and chewy, with a stronger taste. However, you may also want to consider cooking fish at a lower temperature if you want the fish to taste softer. This will allow the proteins to remain intact. In this case, the fish will become flaky and have a milder taste.

Why Should We Cook Salmon on Medium?

When cooking salmon, the key is to cook it long enough to allow the flavors to develop. Cooking the salmon on a medium-high temperature for around 8 minutes per inch of thickness should be sufficient. You can then lower the temperature to complete the cooking time. It is important that you cook the salmon longer than the suggested time so that the salmon doesn’t end up over cooked.
