“Pasture Raised” or grass-fed beef is also referred to as certified grass-fed beef. You can tell that the beef was raised on pastures because it has a lower fat content than beef raised on grain. Beef raised on grain are typically fed grain, and more often than not, corn. This grain is high in carbohydrates. Beef raised on pastures are typically fed grass, as well as legumes and other byproducts. Pasture raised beef is a grass-fed beef. “Grass-fed beef has been raised on pastures that provide it with grass, trees, and other plants as the main source of nutrition. Grass-fed beef has a lower fat content than grain-fed beef. The grass is said to provide for more complete protein, which translates into a more nutritious animal. Grass-fed beef tends to be leaner, with a higher percentage of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. It also has a lot less calories than grain-fed beef.
How to Buy “Pasture Raised” Beef
