Blood tests can measure levels of hormones that are released by the adrenal glands. It’s important to note that different doctors use different lab tests to detect adrenal problems. Some tests can measure levels of aldosterone, and others can measure levels of cortisol. Both of these hormones can be elevated in an overactive adrenal gland, but they can also be elevated in other conditions.

The second type of adrenal gland issues is underproduction. Here, the glands are unable to produce the hormones needed to properly keep the body working. This can cause various problems, such as low energy, fatigue, and depression.

One way to determine if you have a problem with the adrenal glands is to examine your symptoms. It’s a good idea to ask yourself whether your symptoms occur at night and whether your symptoms worsen with stress. If you can, take a sample of blood from your arm to check your cortisol levels.
How To Figure Out if Adrenal Glands are Too Fatigued
You might have noticed that your body is lacking in energy or feeling tired. Your muscles can feel weak and tired, and you may feel uncoordinated. This is caused by the adrenal glands being overworked. When this happens, the adrenal glands become overfatigued and can’t work efficiently. Symptoms of this may include fatigue, muscle pain, increased appetite, depression, cold fingers and toes, and headaches. Normally, when your body has enough energy, you feel energized and you’re able to fight off fatigue. However, this can change when your body’s adrenal glands become overfatigued.
Signs of Adrenal Problems
It’s possible for adrenal problems to go undetected for a long time. This is because people often don’t have any symptoms until their adrenal glands fail. If you’ve had a severe episode of stress or poor sleep, and the adrenal gland problems are the cause of your fatigue, you’ll likely have symptoms. This can be in the form of a headache, feeling tired, a desire to sleep, depression, trouble concentrating, a lack of energy, or a decrease in appetite. The most common symptoms of adrenal problems are insomnia, excessive fatigue, a lack of appetite, weight loss, depression, hair loss, and a lack of sex drive.
