For best results, I recommend eating both the previous night and the night before your procedure. I also recommend drinking about a liter of water the night before and the morning of your colonoscopy. You’re going to be sedated during the procedure, so you don’t want to be dehydrated. Before your procedure, I recommend eating and drinking nothing and chewing sugarless gum to stop the gag reflex. This will help you swallow the air-filled balloons used during the procedure.
