In the early 1980s, The First Edition went on a national tour that brought them to San Jose. Adam got a spot with them and since he was young, he just tagged along with the band. One day, they played a show and the next thing he knew, he was on stage singing backup. After the show, the band’s lead singer told him that he was going to write some music. Sure enough, Adam got his first writing credit on the 1982 movie “Pump Up the Volume”. It was a musical film that starred Sandler. Sandler got his first break after the film came out. The producer of the movie had a friend who was friends with a director who was casting for a new movie. He went to see the director and ended up telling him about Sandler. After hearing about him, the director got in touch with Sandler and brought him in for an audition. It was then that Adam Sandler knew that he wanted to be a comedian.
