There’s no need to feel guilty about eating those decadent, buttery, gooey pecan pralines. Praline is simply a slightly nutty, sweetened, lightly caramelized pecan. Here’s how to make it. Ingredients: 1.5 cups pecan halves
2.5 cups granulated sugar
1 stick of butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon salt
Method: In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the sugar and vanilla extract. Add the nuts and stir to coat. Cook the nuts on medium heat for about 3 minutes, or until the sugar starts to turn light brown. Then lower the heat and pour in the water and salt. Stir to mix and continue to cook for about 7 more minutes or until the sugar is deep golden brown. Transfer to a parchment paper lined baking sheet and let cool.
