A great appetizer for brunch or dinner. The basic is the same for all the versions; you just choose the toppings that best go with your meal. It’s also a great side dish, for that same reason, and works great with other meals in the Mexican or Tex-Mex categories.
Tostada Ingredients
Tostadas are crispy corn tortillas that are usually topped with guacamole, salsa, cilantro, cheese, or refried beans. Tostadas are usually served with tacos, burritos, enchiladas, or fajitas.
How To Make Flour Tortillas
To make these tostadas, we are going to need 1/4 of a cup of flour, a pinch of salt, 3/4 of a teaspoon of baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon of pepper, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. You will also need a medium size pot or saucepan. In a medium size pot or saucepan, heat the oil on medium heat. While the oil is heating, place the bowl containing the flour, the salt, the baking powder, the pepper and the vegetable oil. You can keep this bowl at room temperature until you are ready to use it. After the oil is heated, add about a quarter of a cup of water, stirring constantly. You can use as much or little water as you want. The idea is to mix the ingredients in the oil, and not to over mix them. The idea is to make a paste. Turn off the heat when the mixture starts getting a little runny. You want it to be thick and sticky. If it’s too runny, add a little more flour.
How To Make A Toasted Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chip
While toasted tortilla chips are the most iconic Mexican pizza chip, they are the least traditional of the bunch. They are also often the most expensive. This method uses toasted corn tortillas, instead of flour tortillas, which makes them healthier and less pricey. The process is simple, and can be done in under a minute with just a few ingredients. Ingredients: Salt, chopped white onion, pinto beans, cheddar cheese, and mayonnaise Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 2. Arrange toasted tortillas on a baking sheet. 3. Top each tortilla with a handful of pinto beans. 4. Sprinkle with chopped white onion. 5. Mix mayonnaise and cheddar cheese together and place on top of tortillas. 6. Sprinkle with more salt, if desired. 7. Bake for about 10 minutes, until golden and crisp.
