A Foundation of Hope
Martin Luther King quote If you can’t fly then you’d better run. You can’t march if you can’t walk. That’s why I’ve learned that the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.
king martin luther quote
My mother used to say, “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” And as it turns out, she wasn’t far off. There’s no point in engaging in unpleasant or hurtful debate. This is because, no matter how much you believe in your own opinions, it’s impossible to always know if you’re right. You’re just as likely to be wrong as you are to be right. It’s better to let others have their opinions and their perspective. What if you can’t afford to ignore what they have to say? This is where a critical mass of people can make a difference. They can be the voice of reason in times of controversy. If enough people are on the same page, then the opinion of a single individual doesn’t matter that much. And the fact that people are talking in a respectful way makes them that much more powerful. So, let others have their say, and make sure you’re saying what you believe.
life is like a box of chocolates
Once you’ve tried a chocolate, you will want to try others. And once you’ve tasted one, you will want to try more. The same is true of life. To get the most out of it, you have to try different experiences. One of the best ways to experience new things is to expand your horizons. And you do that by trying new things. You also want to be aware of what experiences are really worth having. It is a bad idea to hold on to experiences that were painful or disappointing in the past. Remember that, while every experience adds to our understanding of the world, not all experiences are equally valuable. There are experiences that we can do without, and we should avoid them.
