It’s time to roast a chicken! Have you ever wondered what an internal temperature of a whole chicken is? All chickens have a set internal temperature at which they are safe to eat. This internal temperature is called the “safe zone”. The safe zone is a range between 46-160°F (7.2-71.1°C). Temperature of a Chicken Thigh

Using this chicken thigh test strip, you can test the temperature of your chicken thigh without removing it from your chicken. As a handy reference, the internal temperature for poultry should be between 76F-80F. Because chicken thighs are quite large, they will naturally take longer to cook than a breast. The best way to test the temperature is to use a digital thermometer that has a probe approximately 2 inches long. It should be inserted into the thickest part of the thigh, just below the surface of the skin. Be careful not to get it too deep, as it can damage the muscle. If you don’t have a thermometer, you can just stick your finger inside the thigh, and if it feels warm, then the chicken is done. Generally, chickens will continue to cook as they cool down, so there is no need to cover the chicken.
