How to Tighten a Faucet Screw Nut
Most kitchen faucets are installed using a faucet nut that screws into a faucet body. Most faucets have two or three screws, but some faucets may have as many as five or six. The screws have hexagonal heads on them, and it is important that you have the correct size wrench for them. If you find that your faucet is leaking, the first thing that you should check is whether the nuts on the faucet are tight. You can tighten a faucet nut by turning it counter-clockwise until it stops.
The Basics
The first step in loosening a faucet is to pull the faucet up from the sink. If the faucet is still stuck, you may need to pull up on the faucet body until you feel a little movement. Once the faucet is raised, the next step is to pull the faucet body down to a specific point. The point where the faucet should go back down should be marked with a metal or plastic ring on the sink. It’s generally about 1/4” up from the sink counter. The faucet can then be rotated slightly to the left. Hold the faucet down by your non-dominant hand and work the faucet until it starts moving. Finally, you may need to bend the faucet down, and push it back up towards the sink until you feel it stop.
How To Tighten Kitchen Faucet Nut Under Sink
After you have your faucet installed, the last step is to tighten the faucet nut. The faucet nut is located at the base of the faucet. This step ensures that the faucet is completely sealed. The faucet nut is installed in a square hole in the base of the faucet. Make sure to tighten it evenly on all four sides of the hole. This will ensure that the faucet nut cannot loosen.
