I love whipped cream. I love eating it and then licking it off my fingers. Of course, I don’t love the mess of licking off all that whipped cream. I would like to thickly coat the whole bowl and so I ended up adding some condensed milk. It’s fine, but when it’s on a fancy dessert that I am making for a gift, that extra condensation is just not what I was looking for. Well, it doesn’t have to be something as fancy as that. So I can use my ice cream scoop and make it thick and tasty in a jiffy.

Whipped Cream Thickeners
When making whipped cream, you want to have a smooth texture. Most recipes recommend using eggs or cream of tartar to thicken the cream. However, these can be hard to find in rural areas. There are other thickeners that work better than these. You can get whipped cream for just $1.59 at Costco. They use a coarser powder that thickens the cream. This powder is called “cream thickener”. This is a type of cornstarch powder that’s not the same as cornstarch. You can also get whipped cream at Walmart. They have a packet of powdered vegetable shortening that thicken the cream. Make sure to stir the powder in before you add it to the mixing bowl.
How to thicken whipped cream?
So, you’re whipping up some whipped cream, and you’re wondering how to thicken it? That’s pretty easy! The simplest way to thicken up whipped cream is to leave your bowl out on the counter and let the whipped cream “set up” overnight. During this time, the cream begins to thicken due to the sugar slowly breaking down. Also, as the cream sets up, it becomes more stable and less prone to deflate. The best part of the overnight setting-up time is that you get to sleep in on the following day!
