BBQ is an art form that involves carefully constructed smoke. Smoke is the chemical process that helps convert a beef brisket into a delicious meal. There are four main ways to smoke a beef brisket, though you don’t need to use all four of them. The three main methods are fire-smoking, oven-smoking, and wet-smoking. How To Fire Up Your Smoker
You probably know already that a smoker is a thing you can light, in order to cook meat in, and a brisket is the cut of meat you make the most of. The best cuts are the ones that are just short of super rare. They can be quite expensive. But when you cook them slowly over low heat, they become so tender that they almost melt. How To Smoke A Brisket
Every cook has a way to smoke a brisket. However, there are a few techniques that have become staples in professional kitchens. Cook briskets at a low temperature to preserve the flavor. Cook dry the outside of the brisket to make it easier to clean. Cook the brisket for approximately 12 hours. Cook over indirect heat, either smoking wood or on a smoker. You can use any wood. Porcini wood or mesquite is a traditional choice, but you can also use other woods. Use your favorite wood if you like. Cook with a lid on the smoker for the first half of the cooking period, so the smoke flavor penetrates the meat. Remove the lid for the last hour. Rest the brisket for 2 hours. Resting the brisket helps the meat retain the smoke flavor.
