Green chile roasting is actually a three step process. First, the chiles must be picked and washed. Next, the chiles are soaked in water until they soften. Finally, they are covered in hot coals until they start to brown and blister.
How To Make a Simple Green Chile Sauce
Roasting the peppers can lead to a much more delicious product. The initial step is removing the stems and seeds from the peppers. Next, cut the peppers into strips about the length of your thumb, and remove the inner ribs from the peppers by running a knife along the side. Place the peppers in a pan or a roasting dish, and cover with a piece of paper. You want to leave enough space that the paper covers all of the peppers, but don’t cover them all the way. You don’t want the peppers to be able to dry out or get too crispy. Place the pan or dish in the oven, and allow the peppers to steam for five to ten minutes. Next, you want to turn the heat to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the pan with the peppers in the oven, and allow the peppers to cook for another 15 minutes. Remove the peppers from the pan or dish, and allow them to cool. While the peppers are still hot, you’ll want to add some water, vinegar, and salt to the pan or dish that the peppers were cooked in. Mix the water, vinegar, and salt together and add a tablespoon of olive oil to the mixture. Using a spoon, stir until the sauce is all mixed together. After all of the sauce has been added to the peppers, you’ll want to reduce the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the pan or dish in the oven, and allow the peppers to cook for another

In your regular grocery stores you can find green chiles, which are also called poblano chiles, to be roasted. If you want to roast the chiles yourself, you can make a simple green chile sauce using chiles, green chili powder, and other ingredients. You can also make an even simpler sauce with a can of roasted green chiles and a can of water. Ingredients You’ll Need Roasted Green Chiles 1/2 pound fresh green chiles, washed and stems removed Garlic, minced Green chili powder Salt to taste Water 1 can of roasted green chiles, drained and chopped (or 3 green chiles, washed, stems removed, and chopped) Instructions Put chiles in a saucepan. Cover with water, and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain chiles, and place in a blender. Add salt, garlic, green chili powder, and water. Blend until smooth. Transfer to a bowl, and add additional salt to taste.
