Fruit flies are a major pest, with an estimated 500 billion of them flying around in your home each day. In an average year, they can eat about 12 pounds of fruit and vegetables, which would amount to roughly 19 million bananas. They can also damage the fruit you grow in your garden. To make matters worse, they can breed at a much faster rate than humans, meaning they are more likely to be a nuisance than a garden threat. However, there are some simple things you can do to prevent them from spreading in your home. Here are a few tips.
Avoiding fruit flies in summer
This isn’t the first time we’ve talked about the dangers of having flies around the kitchen. A few years ago, we gave you tips for catching and releasing fruit flies in the summer. But today we’re going to share some even more fun ways to deal with flies. We’ll be talking about flies, but there are some good tips that will work in any season.
Why buy?
Flies don’t bother me because I always keep my fruit fly traps baited. I only keep the traps when I want to eat apples. If I don’t, then flies will breed in my apples and that would get messy.
Cleaning method for your goods
Some of the key areas for fruit fly control are the use of insecticides. These insecticides can be toxic to humans, animals, and other insects. There are a number of insecticides that you can use, including kerosene, spray oil, and various types of insecticide. The majority of these insecticides are petroleum based, so you can do some things to help reduce your exposure to these insecticides. Insecticide residue can be cleaned off of goods by washing in a large container of warm water, or by using an upholstery shampoo. Insecticide residue can also be removed from clothing by doing a regular hot water wash or by using commercial detergents.

What you need to know
It’s common knowledge that we all need to eat to live. However, the food we eat can also make us ill. One of the most common illnesses we can get is a cold. Fruit flies are insects that feed on other insects, but when they are exposed to germs, they can also become ill. In fact, they have been linked to the spread of other illnesses including stomach flu and diarrhea. Fruit flies can also play a role in spreading bacteria and viruses. They carry disease in the form of spores, which can either lie dormant or be extremely contagious.
