A few months ago, I wanted to make chocolate chip cookies for my boys, but I couldn’t find them in the stores near me. I ended up making them with the ingredients that I had on hand, and they turned out really great. I thought I’d share the recipes here for you.

Why Chocolate Chips Melted on the Stove

Last month, I posted an Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe on YouTube. This recipe involved mixing the dough in the bowl of an electric mixer, then placing the bowl into a larger bowl and refrigerating the dough. The mixture sat in the fridge for about 2 hours. I then removed the bowl from the fridge and baked the cookies. During this time, the chocolate chips melted and formed a sticky mess on the counter. Why did this happen? The heat from the oven caused the chips to become soft and begin to melt. During the cooling process, the surface tension of the chips pulled them together and formed a sticky mess.

Making White Chocolate

Making white chocolate is relatively simple. The first step is to melt chocolate on the stove. You can use a double boiler, or you can melt the chocolate in a stainless steel bowl that has a lid. Heat the pot of water on your stove until it comes to a simmer. If you’re using a double boiler, make sure that the bottom pan isn’t too deep. Fill the top pan with chocolate chips. Put the lid on the top pan and turn the heat on low. Melt the chocolate until it’s completely melted and smooth. It may take a little while, so make sure to stir the chocolate frequently. If you don’t want the white chocolate to get too hot, you can keep a close eye on it as it melts. When the chocolate is completely melted and smooth, remove the lid and stir to make sure that it’s smooth. The white chocolate will melt easily when it comes to a temperature that is comfortable to work with. When you’re done making white chocolate, add some food coloring or add some sprinkles and nuts to make it more interesting.
