How To Make Fresh Pumpkin Puree
If you’ve never made puree from fresh pumpkin before, you should try it. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s easy to make. You can use all kinds of different ingredients, but pumpkin puree is traditionally served with pumpkin pie, although there are many other ways to use it.
Preparation
If you want to make pumpkin puree, you must first choose a good pumpkin. The pumpkin should be fresh and not too large. Once you have chosen a pumpkin, make sure you cut a small notch around the stem. Next, cut the stem off. Don’t remove the seeds, as they are great for flavor.
What You Need For This Recipe
Ingredients:
• 1 Small Orange (Peeled and seeded)
• 1 1/2 C Water
• 1/2 C Sugar
• 1 C Water
• Pumpkin (Optional) (Cut into 4 Cuts)
• Zest of 1 Orange
• 3 Tbsp Cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
• 1 Tbsp Ginger
• 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
• 1/2 Tbsp Salt
• 1/4 Tbsp Baking Soda
• 3/4 C Raw Brown Sugar
• 1/2 C Molasses
• 2 Tbsp Butter
Steps:
1. Cut into 4 Cuts
2. Put into a Crock Pot
3. Add a few Tablespoons of Molasses
4. Add Cinnamon
5. Add Salt
6. Add Ginger
7. Add Pepper
8. Cook on Low for 8-10 Hours
9. Cool, Remove Pumpkin, Cut Out Seeds and Put into Tupperware
10. Add 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar and 1/2 Cup Molasses
11. Put into the freezer until the sugar is set (2-3 Hours)
12. Peel, Seed and Cut into 4 Cuts (You can leave the skin on, but it will be harder to cut)
13. Put into Tupperware
14. Cover with Aluminium or Wax Paper and put into the Fridge
15. After 1 Month, Use the Pumpkin Puree
