How to cook pork belly
Pork belly is one of those traditional Chinese dishes that has evolved and changed from generation to generation. Originally, pork belly was part of a bigger dish, such as Five Spice Pork Ribs. Pork belly has since become its own dish, which is a great way to get your belly in shape before summer. Here are three of my favorite pork belly dishes: 1) Pork and Beans (for the vegetarians out there) This dish is my go-to dish for lunch. It takes just 30 minutes and can be made in the slow cooker, with the leftovers being great the next day. You’ll need: Slow cooker and meat thermometer (optional) 2) Fried Pork Belly with Tamarind Sauce This dish is a classic, and I like to serve it with cucumber rice. You’ll need: Pork belly and sliced cucumber 2) Sweet and Sour Pork Belly This dish is for the ones who love the sweet and sour combination. You’ll need: Slow cooker (with insert) and meat thermometer (optional)
Method
Pork belly is a type of bacon that has been prepared by marinating it, then wrapping it with a thin sheet of rice paper that is pressed and roasted. For this recipe, I used a thin sheet of very thin rice paper to wrap each piece of pork belly, then a thick sheet of paper to wrap the entire package. This produces a crispy pork belly that is just as delicious as any pork belly that I’ve tried before.
The Ingredients
This pork belly recipe is the perfect example of what we’re talking about. There are a lot of ingredients, but we make this one incredibly simple. To start, you need to select the best pork belly. Ideally, you want pork belly with a light, crispy skin, but not one that is super chewy. In terms of the other ingredients, you want to start with dry rub. It’s going to be this really amazing seasoning that is full of herbs and spices. It’s going to really bring out the flavour of the pork belly. Because of the preparation of this pork belly, theres going to be a fair bit of fat that will come off during the cooking.

When cooking, let the pork belly to float on the surface of the water until the pork belly is almost cooked. Remove the cooked pork belly from the hot pot, and let it cool for 20 minutes.
