What is Rice Flour?

What Is Chicharrn?

How to Make Chicharrn
Chicharrn is a type of rice in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. The rice can be eaten as is or combined with other ingredients to make chicharrn sandwiches. It’s also possible to use chicharrn to make chicharrn cookies. The basic idea is to put cooked rice in the oven to bake. But unlike a normal cookie, chicharrn is more of a baked pudding. The rice is typically mixed with butter or other fats, and it is baked in a mold. Chicharrn can be made with a variety of ingredients. Making Chicharrn for Kids

How To Use
Ingredients: 1 cup (240g) flour
3/4 cup (180g) sugar
1/2 cup (115g) butter
1 egg
Peanut (or other nut) filling:
(120g) peanut butter
(150g) chocolate
(70g) peanut butter
(20g) milk chocolate
(120g) cookie dough
(80g) milk
2-3 drops peanut butter flavor
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Butter and flour a 9”x12” pan. In a medium bowl, mix together flour and sugar. Add butter and cut with a pastry blender or two knives until mixture has a sandy texture. Add egg and mix until dough comes together. Press dough in the prepared pan, leaving the edges a bit thicker than the middle. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden. Let the pan cool completely on a rack before slicing and filling. Peanut filling: Put peanut butter, milk, chocolate and peanut butter flavor in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it reaches 160°F (71°C). Remove from heat and let cool. The temperature is too low to melt chocolate. Meanwhile, roll cookie dough into a ball and cut into 1/2” (13mm) pieces. Put pieces in a plastic bag or wrap in plastic and place in the freezer for 5 minutes.
