How To Make Gravy Out Of A Box
The first step to making gravy is to cut up your veg. Broccoli is wonderful for this as it’s so different from the normal greens you can get in a box. For maximum gravy, break your vegetables into small chunks and give them a few minutes to soften up. You will need roughly half a teaspoon of oil to coat your broccoli, which is why you will get rid of the majority of the excess fat from your broccoli. This step is probably the hardest part of gravy making, but remember, patience is key. You don’t want to overcook your broccoli – about 5 minutes of gentle simmering should be all you need to get the sauce ready. And to finish off your gravy, you will need to add a combination of flour and milk. If your broccoli looks a little dried out, it’s time to use some of your stock to loosen it up. You can use either milk or flour depending on what kind of gravy you want. Flour is for a thicker gravy, milk is for a thicker gravy, and the combination is for a versatile gravy. For a flavourful gravy, you can add a pinch of salt to your milk. If you prefer a lighter gravy, you can use just flour with no milk.
