Making gravy is easy, especially for those who are experienced in cooking. However, people who are not very familiar with the dish might find the process a little intimidating. The hardest part is making sure that your dish is not too sweet, otherwise it will overwhelm the meat. Here are some of the most common mistakes, and how to avoid them.
The Benefits of Gravy
Gravy is a sauce that is used with meats to make them more appetizing. There are a number of benefits of gravy, and most of them are health benefits. One of the most important benefits is that gravy can help to reduce cholesterol. Gravy typically has a lot of fat in it. However, when it is cooked with the meat, the fat will begin to melt and create a sauce. This sauce can help reduce the amount of fat in your body. Another benefit of gravy is that it can help to improve digestion. Gravy can help to increase the body’s absorption of nutrients. This means that even if you eat a diet high in meat, it is easier for your body to absorb the nutrients. Another benefit of gravy is that it can help to improve the flavor of your meats. If you use gravy with different meats, it can help to enhance the flavor of each one. If you cook a turkey, and then serve it with gravy, the turkey will taste better.
Step 2 – Begin the cooking process
To begin the cooking process, you will need to begin to thaw the turkey drumsticks. We will first begin with the thighs. This is because the thigh is more prone to dry out if it is not cooked thoroughly.
Step 8 – Serving the ham
Step 8 – Serving the ham. Preheat oven to 350° F. If ham is bone-in, remove it from the bone, and cut it into 4-inch pieces. Place on a baking sheet.
Step 7 – Adding any vegetables
Sauté onions and garlic in the butter until the onions are soft. Stir in flour and cook for another couple of minutes. Stir in stock, water, and carrots and bring to a boil. Lower the heat, and simmer for about 15 minutes. Add half of the corn. Continue cooking until the gravy thickens. Add the other half of the corn when you add the ham. Serve over egg noodles.
Step 3 – Boiling the ham
You’re almost there! Boil the ham for 20 minutes. Allow it to cool down for 5 minutes, then remove it from the pan and set it aside to cool completely. While the ham is cooling, prepare the gravy. In a bowl, combine the flour, milk, broth, and ½ teaspoon salt. Pour the gravy over the ham. Stir to coat the ham. Serve with mashed potatoes.
