How to cut a honeydew melon
Melon Basics
The honeydew melon is a type of cantaloupe that is available in green, yellow, or orange varieties. There is a lot of confusion about how to properly cut a honeydew melon, but it is quite easy. The honeydew melon is made up of three parts: the rind, the seed cavity, and the actual melon. The rind consists of a skin that wraps around the outside of the melon. Once the melon is cut open, the skin should be removed to get to the seed cavity, and then you can get to the melon. The melon consists of a hard, spongy, and slightly fibrous exterior and a spongy and juicy interior.
How to Seed a Melon
Of course, the most obvious way to cut a honeydew melon is to use a melon cutter. Unfortunately, this is not an option for most people. But melons are easy to cut if you know the right technique. First, make sure that the melon is ripe. If it is not ripe, the melon will be more difficult to cut and may burst when you try. Once it is ripe, place the melon on a cutting board and cut off the rind and green part around the edge. Now, cut the melon in half down the middle and remove the seeds. You now have two halves of a melon ready for a refreshing summer meal.
