At the supermarket, you’ll find a wide variety of chicken cuts—from wings to breasts to thighs—and every cut has its own purpose. Of course, we’ve all heard the saying, “The whole chicken is worth more than the sum of its parts.” However, it’s not always the case that the meat from a single chicken is less than the sum of its parts. It just depends on what you’re making with it. When it comes to a traditional whole chicken, its thighs contain a lot of valuable nutrients like protein and B vitamins. And, if you’re cooking it in the oven, it’s safe to say that you’ll be enjoying flavorful, tender meat in no time.
How to chop
You’ll first need to remove the bones from the chicken. Then, remove the skin from the chicken breast. You can use a knife or a pair of kitchen scissors to do this. You’ll need to remove the breast from the bones. Pull the skin away from the breast and cut the skin. Don’t pull or cut the meat off the bone yet. Next, trim the chicken breasts so they’re of similar size. You can either do this with a sharp knife, or you can place the chicken breast in a bowl and use a pair of kitchen scissors to cut it in half. You should remove the leg bones from the chicken thigh, and then cut the thighs in half. Next, trim the chicken breasts. You can either use a sharp knife, or you can place the chicken breast in a bowl and use a pair of kitchen scissors to cut it in half.
How to season
The chicken is fully cooked when the juices run clear and the internal temperature of the breast meat reaches 165 degrees F. If cooking multiple pieces of chicken, place the chickens on a broiler pan or cookie sheet and baste once with the butter. Allow the chicken to cook for 4 to 5 minutes, then turn the pieces over and baste with the butter. If cooking two pieces, stagger the timing so one is cooking for the first 4 to 5 minutes and the other for the last 4 to 5 minutes. Note: If cooking bone-in chicken, remove the bones before basting.

How to cook the chicken
Whole chicken is usually prepared by boiling or roasting. To boil, cut the chicken into pieces and place them into a pot of water. This allows the chicken to cook much faster than it would in the oven. If you’d prefer to roast the chicken, place it into a baking dish and spray the outside with cooking spray before putting it in the oven. The cooking spray will help make the chicken easier to flip and removes some of the excess oil. It is important that you wash the chicken before cooking, as chicken can easily be contaminated with bacteria.
The first steps
Cooking a whole chicken is easier than you might think. In fact, you can even cook a whole chicken in the oven. For this recipe, you’ll need a whole chicken. Any bird can work. Place the bird into a roasting pan and place it in the oven. The roasting pan should be large enough so that the bird does not touch the sides. You can also cook this with a deep fryer.
