What is Uncle Ben’s Rice?
Uncle Ben’s rice is rice that has been cooked by an uncle, that is, an adult relative of the same sex. Although this may seem like it’s quite a long way from the original Uncle Ben, the story of how Uncle Ben’s rice was created has become quite popular in the United States. In 1965, the Harlem Boys Club, in Harlem, New York, was looking for a way to make a rice dish for Sunday dinner that would appeal to kids who might not be too keen on spicy dishes. The club was introduced to Uncle Ben’s by an African-American employee who owned a store in Harlem. He had been asked to come up with something that tasted like his Uncle Ben’s breakfast. The employee used the ground-up remains of a plain and boring cooked rice to add flavour to the rice.
Types of Rice
Uncle Ben’s Instant (and Long-Grain) Rice is made from white rice, brown rice, or a combination of both. The rice can be cooked on the stove top or in a microwave. Cooks with a food mill can grind the rice in the pot. The rice is boiled until the water is absorbed. A lot of people like to add water to the rice, but some cooks don’t. So be sure to follow the instructions on the package.
How to Prepare Rice
Rice is not as common in North America as other types of grains, but it is still very important to our diet. While brown rice can be used in most recipes, white rice is more common. White rice can be added to recipes that call for a white grain, such as risotto, chowder, and risotto. Some people also prefer to cook it with different types of grains to make it easier to digest. Most rice can be cooked with a combination of water, salt, and a starch like vegetable starch or potato starch. Soak the rice in water for about 20 minutes. Rinse well, drain, and add enough water to cover by about 1/2 inch. Add about a tablespoon of vegetable starch or potato starch. Bring to a boil, lower the heat, cover, and let simmer until most of the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, about 20-25 minutes. Fluff with a fork, and season with additional salt, if desired.
How to Cook Uncle Ben’s Rice
Uncle ben’s rice, or jasmine rice as it is called in the US, is a very popular dish. It is usually made with chicken, and cooked with chicken stock. It comes in a brown, beige, or white color. It is usually sold in supermarkets. It is also sold in cans, and can be cooked in a microwave. The main key to cooking the dish is that you cook it slowly. It should be cooked in a low-temperature oven, and then put in a bowl with a small amount of chicken stock. You then cover it with foil, and leave it for about half an hour. Once you take it out, you should use a fork to fluff the rice. You can then serve it.
