What to buy?
The most important aspect of choosing a salmon fillet is to make sure it is fresh. Have the fish professionally cleaned, or opt for a fresh fillet instead. Fresh fillets are the best as they are typically vacuum packed in ice and remain very fresh. You can make sure it is fresh by looking at the “use by” date. Opt for a smaller sized fillet as they are usually more affordable. Fresh salmon can be lightly grilled, or baked. If you decide to bake the salmon, you can opt for a stove top or an oven. To bake salmon in the oven, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and grease a baking dish. Mix the salmon with a small amount of lemon juice, spices, and salt. Fold in the cream cheese or sour cream. Place the salmon fillet in the baking dish. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

Toppings
The salmon must be cooked in the oven until it is just cooked through. The salmon should be cooked on the lower rack so that it stays moist while still cooking. Make sure to flip the salmon halfway through cooking. Bake the salmon for about 10 minutes. The salmon will look undercooked if it has been baked for less than 10 minutes. Once it is cooked through, pour some of the baking soda and water mixture onto a plate. Once the salmon has been flipped, take the salmon out of the oven, and pour the remainder of the baking soda and water mixture into the baking dish. Allow the salmon to rest for 5 minutes. This will make the salmon easier to cut. Then, brush the remaining soda and water mixture onto the salmon and sprinkle it with flake salt.
