Sear a steak in a pan. To do so, heat up the pan and place your steak in it, allowing it to cook over medium heat. Flip your steak over after about 5 minutes. The steak is done when it reaches medium rare, which is when the meat has cooked to an internal temperature of 125°F. This temperature is the right temperature for searing and finishing your steak.

Steak Spice Mix

This is a really delicious spice mix for pan-seared steak. A basic stock cube and a little salt and pepper are all that you need to get this going. For the marinade, the steak and the spice mix, you want to use a 1:2 proportion. You want a ratio of roughly 1 ounce steak to 2 ounces spice mix. Again, a pinch of all three is enough. You just want the tops and bottoms of the onions to be browned, so that’s really the only part you need to pay attention to when you start this one. These three ingredients are chopped together and then left to the side. The steak gets seasoned and cooked in a skillet. This is a pan-seared steak. You want to cook it for about three minutes per side, so that’s two minutes for each side. A nice quick sear will do the trick. The steak is taken out and set aside to rest. And then the onion gets served with your steak and all of the spices.
