Usually the safest option is to use an oven for cooking, although it can be slower than other cooking methods. This video shows you how to cook short ribs in an oven.
White Broccoli Cheddar-Easy
This recipe makes for an easy weeknight meal. The cheddar gives it the classic white broccoli flavor that is the perfect complement to the short ribs. These are usually quite large and take a bit of time to cook. They tend to become falling off the bone tender during the long, slow cooking process. So, this recipe does require a bit more time, but is well worth the effort. If you’re looking for an easier version, you can use the Oven Roasted Cauliflower with Bacon.
Tender
In the past, cooking short ribs was a rather tricky endeavor. The meat would get tough and dry if not properly cooked. Today, we are able to buy inexpensive, ready-to-cook short ribs in the supermarket. And, with a few simple tips, you too can cook these healthy ribs with tender results. Short ribs can be purchased in either the bone-in or bone-out variety. If purchasing bone-out, simply leave the bones and surrounding fat on the meat. If purchasing bone-in, the bones can be removed before cooking. Simply wrap the ribs in paper towels and soak them in cold water for 15 minutes. Remove the ribs from the water and drain the excess water. Season the ribs with salt and pepper, then place them in a roasting pan with a little oil. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Best times to cook Short Ribs
The best time to cook short ribs is in the oven, usually between 225 and 275 degrees Fahrenheit. If cooked incorrectly, they can develop a dark purple color, have a rubbery texture, or smell like raw beef. They need to be braised for a long time, or be cooked until they are fall apart. They are best when they are tender and just underdone. It can be challenging to cook them right, but they have to be cooked properly. It is easier if you use a digital thermometer to measure the internal temperature of the beef. The food needs to be rested after cooking so that it can be served warm. It can be served with a mustard and horseradish sauce.
How to Roast Short Ribs
Short ribs are one of the best dishes you can make with meat. The long, thick rib bones are perfect for roasting, which makes them incredibly easy to cook. The trick is not to let the ribs overcook, which can make them dry and tough. You’ll need to bone the ribs, but you’ll also need to leave on the fat on the meat. This allows for easier and more flavorful cooking. Short ribs can be served as an entrée or a main course. They can be served over potatoes, rice, or noodles. They can be used as an ingredient in other dishes, or they can be served on their own as an entrée. You can roast the ribs with the bone side up or on the bone side down. The last option is the easiest, but it will likely result in less of a flavor transfer. Short ribs are great when you’re making a roast dinner, but they can be used in many other dishes as well.
