For example, a pig’s ear roast is traditionally left on a table to cool for several hours until the meat is firm enough to handle. In this video, I’m going to show you how to make it at home using no extra tools. First thing you’ll need is fresh pork jowl, it can be found in the deli section of any grocery store. Next, is a pan, I recommend a cast iron one as it’s easy to clean and heat evenly. Now, you’ll want to score the jowl into thin slices, it’s basically just a matter of putting it in the pan and sliding it to the side until it’s thin enough. Then, you can flip it over and repeat the process. And that’s it. Jowl is perfect for sandwiches and can also be marinated and grilled.

Jowl, also known as flank or loin roast is a popular cut of meat from the shoulder of a pig. Jowl is very good for making tacos and fajitas because of its mild flavor. Jowl is relatively inexpensive, making it a great cut for beginners. One of the best parts of pork is the fat that is contained in the jowl. So, in this recipe, we will remove most of that fat for you. The lean meat on the jowl, which is very tasty in its own right, will be minced for tacos. The skin will also be removed. Jowl has a rich taste, and because it is very lean, it will not have any flavor of its own. But with the addition of some garlic and spices, you will get a great taste.
The Best Way to Cook Pork Jowl
A lot of people think that pork jowl is pretty tough. But, it’s actually tender, and makes a great replacement for ground meat in a lot of dishes. It’s much more versatile than ground meat because it can be cooked in a variety of ways. While it’s best to use raw pork jowl when you’re making stews and soups, you can also use it to make sausages and sauerkraut. To prepare pork jowl, you’ll first need to trim the excess fat. Then, cut the pork into small pieces and rinse with cold water to remove any remaining blood. Place the pork in a large bowl, add the soy sauce and salt, and toss to coat. Drain the water before using the jowl. Another method is to chop the jowl into cubes and fry them until brown. Once brown, remove them from the pan and let them cool.
