Fort Collins police are investigating after a man discovered what turned out to be a live rat inside of a baby’s diaper that was found in a trash bin last week.
Police said the bin was found in the 3200 block of North Metro Drive.
Officers responded to the area and found the baby’s diaper and no one on the property. The bin was taken to the Animal Control Shelter.
A rat trapper arrived at the scene and took a live animal with him.
Fort Collins police said there were no reported injuries or deaths related to this incident.
Alex Hughes, who lives nearby, heard the baby cry, and went to investigate.
“I got a little upset, thinking, ‘Oh my God, I heard that,'” Hughes said.
