I thought that if I could make them the same way as my mom, I would always know that the pierogis were homemade. Luckily for me, it turned out to be really easy and fun to make.

The first step is to bring the frozen pierogi into the water to defrost. While you can defrost them on the counter, we recommend using a pan because the pan can help you get the pierogi tender. Start heating the pan on the stove at medium-low heat, which is also important for handling the pierogi. You don’t want to burn the pierogi so you want to keep the heat low to medium. Next, you want to add the pierogi to the pan. This is the part that can be a little tricky, because if you add them too fast they may break. You want to add them to the pan in a single layer. The more you add, the bigger the batch will be, so make sure you don’t add too many at a time. Once they are all in the pan, you want to add a little bit of oil or some water to the pierogi so they don’t stick to each other. Next, you want to sprinkle a little bit of flour on the pan.
