You’ll need chicken breasts, a can of beer, onion, garlic, fresh herbs, salt and pepper. Place the chicken breasts in a sealable plastic bag. Pour the beer over the top of the chicken, and toss to make sure the chicken is covered with the beer. Let sit for at least two hours, but ideally overnight. According to the beer can chicken recipe, you need to boil up a can of beer, remove the label, and place the can in a pressure cooker. Then, you’ll need to put the chicken pieces in the cooker with the beer can. The beer can is filled with water and put on the stove and then the chicken is placed on top of the can. Once the pressure cooker is sealed, you’ll turn the heat on and the can should begin to release steam. This will help cook the chicken. You can put a few sprigs of fresh herbs in the can and top with a parsley butter to finish.
Ingredients: 1 whole chicken
1 6-pack beer cans
1-2 cups chicken broth
1 onion, diced
1 head of garlic, minced
1/2 a cup of chopped parsley
1/2 cup of lemon juice
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. black pepper
How to Cook Beer Can Chicken
The first step in preparing this recipe is to make your marinade. For this recipe you’ll need: 12 beer cans (unopened) 4 cups of chicken broth 2 cups of apple cider vinegar 2/3 cup of hot sauce 1/2 cup of Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup of dried basil 1/4 cup of dried thyme 2 tablespoons of salt 4 tablespoons of pepper 1/4 cup of liquid smoke A can of beer 3 hot dogs (12oz. can) 1 can of chicken 4 boneless chicken thighs 1/2 cup of flour 1 1/2 cup of water In a mixing bowl, mix together all of the ingredients for the marinade. Place the chicken thighs in a large zip-top bag and pour the marinade on top. Seal the bag, then place in a cooler for a few hours. When you’re ready to cook the beer can chicken, preheat the oven to 350 F and remove the chicken from the bag. Place the chicken on a large baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, brush the chicken with the flour and pour the can of beer on top. Then bake for an additional 10 minutes. Serve with your favorite BBQ sauce or marinade.
