How to Seasonal Shrimp?

Shrimp season is in the fall and winter. However, I would season my shrimp when I buy them for this recipe. The reason is, shrimp is very perishable and is only good for three days after being frozen or thawed. If I buy a 12 ounce box of shrimp at the store, I would put them in the freezer the same day. This will extend their shelf life. If you don’t have a freezer, you can put the shrimp in the fridge. Then, I would quickly rinse them under cold water to remove any residual salt. I would drain and pat the shrimp dry with paper towel. Put the shrimp in a bowl and sprinkle with a little olive oil, garlic, and fresh pepper. I would rub the shrimp by hand to coat them evenly with the seasonings. I would put them in a pan and put them on medium high heat. When the oil starts to smoke, I would add the shrimp. I would cook for about 3 minutes or until it turns pink. I would turn them over and continue to cook for another 3 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Serve on a bed of rice or pasta, and you have shrimp and rice for dinner!

What Is Already Cooked Shrimp?

If you can’t find cooked shrimp, you may be able to buy them already cooked. Look for them in the freezer section of your grocery store. You may also find them in the seafood section of your grocery store. They will likely be stored on ice, so don’t open them until you get home. Once they’re open, they should be fine to eat right away. Just be sure to cook them a bit longer than you normally would to get them the same texture as they would if you just bought them. Just put them in a steamer and let them steam for about five minutes. You may also use a pan with boiling water. The water should be boiling when you start, and you’ll have to leave the water on high heat for the whole cooking process.
