This is one of my favorite roast pork recipes and it will serve you and your family a delicious meal, plus you don’t have to clean up a mess. That’s right, you can serve this roast in your crockpot with no mess. Just chop up the vegetables, pour the apple cider over the pork and potatoes. Then put it all in the crockpot and forget about it. In the morning, you’ll wake up to a delicious meal. How easy is that?
other spices
The spice is essential to bring out the flavour of the meat. Let’s find out how to do it.
marinating
marinating is a great way to add flavor to your food. This is because the marinade is absorbed into the meat as it cooks, resulting in a much more delicious meal. There are a few different ways you can marinate your meat. You can marinate the meat after cooking it. You can also soak the meat and add the marinade before you put it in the crockpot. Before you put the meat in the crockpot, make sure to remove all of the visible fat and place the meat in a zipper bag. Leave the bag in the refrigerator. Then, place the meat into the crockpot, cover it with marinade, and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 6 to 8 hours.
the brown sugar rub
This is one of my favorite cuts of meat. It has a very intense flavor and, unlike other cuts of meat, you can keep it in the freezer and it will last forever. Once you make this roast, it will be all you need to make several meals for a few weeks. Just add some broth, carrots, potatoes, onions, and a green vegetable, like broccoli, and you’re good to go. Now let’s talk about the rub. Ingredients: 1 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup kosher salt 1/4 cup black pepper 1/4 cup smoked paprika 2 teaspoons garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon turmeric 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon coriander 1/4 teaspoon cayenne 1/4 teaspoon cardamom 1/4 teaspoon cloves 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1 teaspoon onion flakes 1 teaspoon allspice flakes 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 1 teaspoon cumin 1 teaspoon ginger powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 1/2 cup BBQ sauce 3/4 cup olive oil
cooking
I love pork shoulder, and my favorite way to cook it is in the crock pot. The spices and the long cooking time make for a tasty meal. But how do you know when the pork is done? So, I’ve included some general cooking times for pork shoulder in this post. This is assuming you want to serve it medium-rare. There is more than one way to cook pork, and cooking times will vary. The general rule is that you should be able to remove the pork from the crock pot with a fork and it should be cooked enough to fall apart.
finishing
So you bought that pig and it lives happily in the crock pot. Just remember that pork is an extremely forgiving meat. You can make a simple marinade or rub, and you can also let the meat marinate for hours on end with hardly any effort at all. If you want the pork to be tender, then you need to let it sit and cook for a while. That said, you can go the other way and cook it well done. Just remember that this is an easy way to get a deliciously browned, charred crust on the pork. There’s no reason not to have an extra helping of meat with your mashed potatoes or green beans.
